The Township of Severn has created a grant to fund beautification projects.

The Township of Severn is accepting applications for grant money to fund beautification projects.

Council created the special project grant “in an effort to provide financial support for individuals or organizations that are leading community-focused initiatives to enhance the vitality, sense of pride, and overall quality of life in Severn,” according to a township news release.

Eligible projects can include decorations and banners, gardens, hanging baskets, seasonal displays, and welcome signs.

“Council saw the need to support the incredible efforts by our community in keeping Severn beautiful,” said Mayor Mike Burkett. “Our local groups and volunteers work tirelessly to enhance and preserve our unique small-town charm, and we can help that work continue by offering financial support through council’s special project grant. We’re proud to invest in projects that will beautify and improve local spaces.”

Applications are being accepted for one project at a time. Those who apply must detail how the money will be spent.

A funding request limit per project has not been set, but the total annual amount set aside for the special project grant budget is $30,000.

Applications can be completed at severn.ca/grants. The application can also be printed and submitted by email or delivered to the township administration building at 1024 Hurlwood Lane.

Applications will be accepted for the remainder of 2023.
