Mariposa Arts Theatre (MAT) will hold auditions for its April 2023 production of Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward.

Auditions for the play, directed by Gail Henderson, will take place Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. at 12 Brammer Dr. in Orillia. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Those who want to audition are asked to prepare a brief piece from memory, and sides will be provided as needed at the audition. Comfortable clothing is advised as the auditions will include some improv.

“Your memory piece need not be complicated. It can be from a play, a poem, song lyrics (not sung), an anecdote, etc. It just needs to be something from memory and not read from a paper,” according to MAT.

Blithe Spirit is a British comedy, but British accents are not required for the auditions.

More information is available by contacting stage manager Doug Anderson by voice or text at 705-329-8266 or by email at [email protected].

An audition form and more detailed character information is available upon request.

MAT welcomes any actors who are interested in auditioning, including those who self-identify as female or non-binary. BIPOC and LGBTQ+ actors are also encouraged to audition.

Because MAT is a non-profit, non-equity, community theatre group, acting roles are not paid positions.

Blithe Spirit will be performed April 13 to 23 in the Studio Theatre at the Orillia Opera House.
