'Big hit': Hewitts Fun Farm hopping into Easter celebrations

'People have been cooped up all winter with not much to do. This is one of the first outdoor events where you can come enjoy the springtime,' says owner of Hewitts Fun Farm.

Hewitts Fun Farm owner Trevor Hewitt invites families out to see the Easter Bunny on Easter weekend.

Hewitts Fun Farm invites the community to hop into its Easter celebrations next weekend.

The farm — at 3331 Town Line, near Warminster — will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during Easter weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event welcomes children to visit with the Easter Bunny, see live farm animals, and play on the playground.

Hewitts owner Trevor Hewitt says the event marks the unofficial kickoff to spring for some families in the area.

“People have been cooped up all winter with not much to do,” he said. “This is one of the first outdoor events where you can come enjoy the springtime.”

Hewitt says the popularity of the Easter event grows every year.

“People are excited to get out, enjoy the fresh air, the sunshine, and the warmer temperatures,” he said.

Also popular at Hewitts right now is maple syrup season. Hewitt says it’s been a tricky year this year for folks collecting with pails.

“We collected for the first time about two weeks ago,” he said. “There is a chance we will still be doing maple syrup on Easter.”

Maple syrup as well as locally made Easter chocolates, candies and treats will be available in the farm market over the Eater long weekend, he said.

“We use a local company, Chelsea Chocolates, who are down in Craighurst,” Hewitt explained. "They are an amazing local company that does a lot of cool shapes and sizes of Easter chocolates.”

The main attraction of the weekend is the Easter Egg hunt, which takes place at any time during each family's visit.

“That’s always the big hit,” Hewitt said. “We hide different coloured eggs all around the Fun Farm, and you have to go out and collect one of each. Every kid will get to exchange their eggs for a little treat bag on the way out.”

Tickets at the door are $14. In advance, tickets for the event are $13.50, except for children under 24 months old, they are free. To get your tickets, click here.
