NEWS RELEASE
CANADIAN BLOOD SERVICES
********************
Donating blood this holiday season is one of the most generous things you can do for someone in need.

Every donation appointment this holiday season needs to be filled. Now is the time to donate. There is growing pressure on blood supplies.

We ask all eligible donors to book and honour their appointment to donate blood, platelets, and plasma, now and over the coming holiday weeks to help patients in Canada.

Blood, platelets, and plasma donors are needed across Canada to fill many open appointments by the end of the year. O-negative blood donors are especially needed because this blood type can be transfused to any patient. In times of emergency or for newborn patients, O-negative blood, the universal blood type, makes a lifesaving difference.

Everyone who can is encouraged to participate. Ask a family member, friend, or colleague to book an appointment to donate at the same time as you. Together, you can make donating blood a new meaningful tradition.

Two blood donation clinics are coming to Orillia in December.

Canadian Blood Services will be at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre, at 400 Memorial Ave., Dec. 7 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Dec. 11 from 3 to 7 p.m.

Appointments are required and can be made at blood.ca or by calling 1-888-2DONATE.
