The Orillia minor bantams had hoped to be celebrating a provincial championship this weekend. However, all games have been cancelled.

Hockey Canada, as a result of Covid-19, and in support of player and participant safety has cancelled all Hockey Canada-sanctioned activities, including national championships until further notice, effective Friday, March 13, 2020.

As a result, the four local Orillia Minor Hockey Association teams that were to begin OMHA championship series this week, will not be playing. An Orillia minor hockey official confirmed they received the news Thursday evening.

All Orillia Girls Hockey Association playoff games and practices have also been cancelled, the organization announced in a Tweet tonight.

In a statement, the Ontario Women's Hockey Association said it "appreciates the magnitude of this situation and sincerely thanks the many stakeholders for their support as we all work through the logistics of this cancelation. We encourage everyone to keep themselves informed of information available through the various health departments as the medical community works diligently to manage the Coronavirus."
