NEWS RELEASE
CHAMPLAIN SENIORS SERVICE CLUB
******************
Now that our new year celebrations are finally over, a very large number of us have joined hands and sung Auld Lang Syne, arguably the best-known song of all time. It is also one of the many songs written by Scotland’s national poet, Rabbie Burns.

All over the world, Robert Burns’s birthday on Jan. 25 is extensively celebrated, in a manner completely unheard of for any other British poet, including Shakespeare.

The Champlain Seniors Service Club is hosting a Burns Supper on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Orillia, with all the traditional trimmings.

Scottish fare, including haggis, Scottish music and Highland dancing will be provided. All proceeds will be donated to the Orillia Scottish Festival, held in the summer.

All tickets have been sold, but if anyone wishes to be placed on a waiting list in the hope of cancellations, please contact Barry Keen at 705-325-4972.

Tickets cost $35 each. The event will start with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.
