CFUW Orillia is thrilled to announce that this year’s Homes for Scholarships fundraising totals are now in.
An exciting total of $37,600 has been raised for scholarships for young women from the local area pursuing their post-secondary education.
The June 4 Homes for Scholarships Tour was sold out. Ticket holders visited five spectacular area homes and enjoyed a rooftop picnic at Matchedash Lofts. An online auction for a Charles Pachter print, Good Morning to the Rooster, as well as this year’s Feed the Mind were additional fundraising initiatives. Feed the Mind, held over the month of June, saw 14 local restaurants donate a portion of the proceeds from a select menu item to CFUW Orillia’s scholarship fund. We are thankful to all our volunteers and appreciative of the community’s support.
This past June CFUW Orillia awarded $32,700 to 24 young women heading off to post-secondary studies. Since 1974, CFUW Orillia has granted $403,975 in scholarships to 749 young women.
CFUW Orillia offers amazing social connections, lifelong learning opportunities, a commitment to advocacy, new friendships, and is dedicated to promoting education. CFUW Orillia has a membership of 110-plus women and is a dynamic organization who welcomes all women who share our core beliefs of education, advocacy, social justice, and equality.
