CFUW ORILLIA

To celebrate a significant accomplishment, 22 CFUW Orillia scholarship winners were invited to an outdoor social gathering by a group of CFUW members. The message given to the young women was one of best wishes for a successful journey as they begin a new and exciting adventure called post-secondary education.
The students from Patrick Fogarty Secondary School, Orillia Secondary School, Twin Lakes Secondary and Ecole Nouvelle Alliance were granted a total of $28,000 in scholarships from the CFUW Orillia Education Foundation as well as two $1,350 awards from The Bev Long Memorial Fund. Bev Long was a dedicated member of CFUW Orillia for 24 years. In addition, $2,000 was granted to Lakehead University for the Humanities 101 program.
Most of the scholarship funds are raised each year through the annual CFUW Orillia Homes for Scholarships Tour. Since 1974, CFUW Orillia has awarded $403,975 in scholarships to 749 women.
