Christmas came early for Simcoe County Paramedics.
The north-end Barrie Toys ‘R’ Us made a donation of toys recently to the 18th annual County of Simcoe Paramedics Toy Drive, which typically kicks off in November to coincide with local Santa Claus parades.
The company filled an ambulance with toys for the drive, which became available through the company’s stock rotation.
“It’s a very heartfelt experience that we can give back to our community,” said Barrie Toys ‘R’ Us manager Barb MacLean. “This year could be a bit more of a struggle for families, so we’re glad we could assist.”
Over the last 17 years, the drive has collected 84,265 toys, 37,180 pounds of food and approximately $172,000 in monetary and gift card donations for families across Simcoe County.
This year’s drive will officially launch in mid-November.
Toy drive donations are distributed to local children and families in need by charitable organizations working in partnership with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.
