Today appears to be a good day to stay inside.

The promised ice storm arrived overnight. Rain and freezing drizzle has turned sidewalks and streets into skating rinks throughout the city.

Amateur weather watcher David Brain says the temperature is expected to rise above the freezing mark by mid-morning.

It's possible, the precipitation could turn to snow later today, he warned.

Meanwhile, the OPP is asking drivers to stay off the roads if possible, warning about the perils of black ice.

While there are no reported power outages currently, that is also a concern as winds whip up and tree branches, heavy with ice, come into contact with power lines.

Your best bet, officials say, is to stay home and stay warm.
