City to host public meeting over 8-storey building on waterfront

As part of the city’s waterfront redevelopment project, the proposed building includes 97 residential units, four live-work units, and retail units

The City of Orillia is hosting an electronic public meeting on Sept. 19 regarding developer Fram+Slokker’s planned eight-storey, mixed use building it plans to build at 70 Front St. N.

As part of the city’s waterfront redevelopment project, the proposed building includes 97 residential units, four live-work units, and retail units.

The municipal lands near 70 Front St. N. were sold to Fram+Slokker in April 2022 following a lengthy process that began several years earlier when the city purchased the site.

Scheduled for 12 p.m., the city will consider a zoning bylaw amendment to permit the project at the meeting.

The zoning amendments being considered for the project include building height, setbacks, angular place, and reduced parking requirements.

Amendments related to the proposal include site-specific building height, setbacks, angular plane and reduced parking requirements.

Residents who wish to attend will need to register with the clerk’s division by noon on Friday, Sept. 16, by emailing [email protected] or calling 705-325-1311.

Further information regarding the project may be found here.
