Community Foundation hands out $40K in grants to local charities

Recipients include St. James' Loonie Lunch, Independent Living Services, Youth Haven

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF ORILLIA AND AREA

The Community Foundation of Orillia and Area (CFOA) has approved fall 2022 grants of $40,300 to local charities to assist them in providing much-needed services to vulnerable residents of Orillia and area.

Nineteen organizations will receive funds for activities including:

  • $4,000 to St. James’ Anglican Church for their Loonie Lunch program
  • $1,500 to Independent Living Services of Simcoe County and Area for assistive devices
  • $5,000 to Youth Haven Orillia for their meal delivery program

The CFOA’s investment portfolio has reached a landmark of over $15 million and is comprised of a variety of funds. These fall grants come from the Smart and Caring Communities Fund, the Patti Cox Children’s Fund, the Patti Cox Seniors’ Fund and the Casino Rama CREW Festive Fund.

In 2022, the CFOA has granted over $415,000 to local charities.
