Many families that don’t regularly attend church still want to find some way to celebrate the Christmas season, but wonder where they might be welcomed and fit in.
Connexus Church in Orillia is hosting a Christmas Eve service that’s open to the entire community at the Orillia Opera House on Monday, Dec. 23 at 5 and 7 p.m.
Christmas Eve in Orillia is a 65-minute experience that features professional musicians doing modernized versions of traditional Christmas carols, a Christmas message, and even childcare for children aged 3 and under. And, best of all, it’s absolutely free!
This year, we're adding another community twist to the event. You may have heard of or seen the slogan “FOR Orillia” on signs, on buttons, or even on t-shirts in recent years.
Well, for both of their 2019 Christmas Eve services in Orillia, Connexus Church will be collecting funds for The Orillia Lighthouse as a part of their service this year.
In past years, the church has generously gifted funds to the Lighthouse to be in the corner of those in need. However, this year they wanted to give the greater community the opportunity to jump on board, too.
“We’re grateful for this opportunity to celebrate the hope of Christmas with those who join us for a service at the Opera House," says Christine Birch, the Campus Pastor of Connexus Orillia.
"Even more, we really want to be there for the City of Orillia, and great organizations like The Lighthouse who make our city a better place for so many,” Birch added.
