COUCHICHING CONSERVANCY

The Couchiching Conservancy will host their Annual General Meeting virtually on Saturday, March 6. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
If you are concerned about the future of our forests, wetlands and alvars – now is the time to act and get involved.
The meeting will include an update on conservation successes accomplished in 2020, with new Nature Reserves protected, citizen science monitoring completed, stewardship efforts and more.
It will feature special presentations by staff and volunteers, a dive into the business of conservation and the election of the new Board of Directors. Members will have voting rights at the meeting, so make sure your membership is up to date. After the business portion of the meeting, a short film festival will be debuted, including never before shared footage.
Pre-reading materials including the Annual Report, audited financial statements, agenda and more are available on the Conservancy’s website, www.couchichingconserv.ca. A link to register is also on the website.
Thanks to supporters, the Conservancy has helped to protect over 13,500 acres of wilderness in the region. Ongoing care of these landscapes includes invasive species management, footpath maintenance, monitoring and more.
Until March 1, if you become a monthly donor, the Conservancy will send you a special package; including free popcorn to enjoy during the film festival! Monthly donors sustain the work of the Conservancy, receive a charitable tax receipt for their full contribution and can direct a portion of their gift towards membership.
Last year, the meeting was attended by over 260 people and took place safely before the lockdown. Due to the impacts of the global pandemic, the meeting is moving to the Zoom platform. To date, over 180 people have registered.
