NEWS RELEASE
COUNTY OF SIMCOE
*************************
On Tuesday, June 28, at 10 a.m., the County of Simcoe is hosting a statutory public meeting on a proposed first-phase growth management amendment to the county’s Official Plan.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the county’s YouTube channel for public viewing, and interested parties who wish to speak at the meeting can register to attend virtually.

This proposed first-phase growth management Official Plan amendment (OPA) has been prepared in association with the county’s Municipal Comprehensive Review to bring the county Official Plan into conformity with the provincial growth plan, which requires the county to plan for a population of 555,000 and 198,000 jobs by 2051. This proposed OPA represents the first of multiple amendments to the existing county Official Plan that will establish where and how growth is to occur over the next 30 years.

To participate in the meeting by providing a five-minute pre-recorded video presentation or a five-minute live virtual presentation, pre-registration is required by no later than noon on Friday, June 24. To pre-register, visit www.simcoe.ca/publicmeeting. Residents can also choose to submit a written submission on the proposed OPA to the county clerk by mail or email before noon on Friday, June 24.

More details are available at www.simcoe.ca/publicmeeting.
