A team member tested positive on Monday, officials say; All residents and staff members are being tested for the virus

The Leacock Care Centre has been placed in outbreak status by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit after a single positive COVID-19 case was detected Monday in a team member (staffer) at the Atherley Road facility.

The “said team member was placed in immediate isolation in their personal place of residence and is presently focused on their recovery,” said Stephanie Barber, community relations co-ordinator for Jarlette, which operates the Leacock Care Centre.

She said “home-wide swabbing” is currently underway for all residents and team members.

“We have yet to receive any added positive results,” she said.

Barber said the home is working closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit along with their infection rrevention and control specialists and “adhering to all recommendations as required.”

“The comfort, safety and well-being of our residents, family members, team members and the Orillia community at large remains our top priority,” said Barber.

“As such, we are exercising every precaution to safeguard those we serve and will continue to implement proactive health and safety strategies to enhance our efforts.”
