NEWS RELEASE
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF ORILLIA & DISTRICT
***********************

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia & District will be holding is holding its 33rd annual Curl for Kids Sake at the Orillia Curling Club on Sunday, Nov. 25.

Help us to decrease the time that a child must wait to get matched with a big brother or sister by participating in the bonspiel.

While a value cannot be placed on the happiness or resilience of a child, one can be placed on the hard costs of providing necessary services to them.

The costs associated with the program range from supplying nutritious snacks, activity bins, volunteer recruitment, as well as training and match support by a professional Caseworker annually.

It costs approximately $750 for a youth to participate in one of our school-based mentoring programs and over $1,100 in our traditional programs. The demand for the program continues to increase annually.

The challenge for us will be to address the widening gap between what we can do and what we can afford to do as the program receives no sustainable funding.

In 2017, through the combined efforts of individual donors and corporate sponsorship, we raised enough money to change the lives of those 300+ vulnerable children and youth. Nevertheless, our work is ongoing; there are still children anxiously waiting to be matched with caring mentors today.

By participating and/or sponsoring our Annual Curl for Kids Sake, you will be helping us help more children and youth in our community. That is an investment worth making.

You are invited to join our growing list of supporters by entering a team for the 33rd Annual Curl for Kids Sake.

As a pledged-based event our teams are asked to raise pledges rather than pay an entrance fee. For more information on the event please click here
