Downtown was hopping for Great Easter Egg Hunt

Hundreds of children scour downtown for Easter treats

Hundreds of children, many toting colourful baskets, scoured the area around the Opera House Saturday morning searching for Easter eggs as part of the Great Easter Egg Hunt in downtown Orillia.

Under sunny skies and despite cool temperatures, children happily hunted for the bounty around hedges and trees surrounding the library and along Mississaga Street.

Once they gathered their colourful plastic eggs, they redeemed them for tasty chocolate from Apple Annie’s. Each child only had to find three plastic eggs to get their yummy reward.

In addition to the egg hunt, the Easter Bunny was also on hand to pose for photographs and many children took advantage of the opportunity to have their face painted.

More than 200 merchants are behind the annual event which kicked off this year’s Bring on Spring campaign in the downtown.
