Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie is celebrating International Women’s Day by expanding the attire in their boutique to serve women in more diverse roles.

Through their suiting program, which provides free professional clothing to women who are job seeking, newly employed, or starting a co-op or work placement, Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie is offering their clients a broadened range of clothing.

The charity has identified three areas that they need to expand their attire to cover: work in construction and the trades; healthcare/PSWs; and the service industry.

They must purchase new clothing to have an inventory geared to more diverse career paths, so they can help more women in their desired profession.

Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s goal for International Women’s Day is to raise $7,500, supplying essential professional attire for 30 women working in these fields.

Oatley Vigmond LLP has donated $2,000 to Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie to go towards this cause. Oatley Vigmond is a founding supporter of the charity, donating cash and in-kind clothing donations since 2014.

From the law firm: Oatley Vigmond recognizes the tremendous work that Dress for Success does each year in the Barrie and Orillia communities. Dress for Success empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, the firm is proud to once again donate $2,000 in support of these efforts. We would like to encourage other local businesses to support Dress for Success too.

TD Bank Group has generously donated $2,500 to the charity’s International Women's Day fundraiser as well. “At TD, we are committed to creating conditions where everyone has the tools and resources they need to succeed in a changing world and feel confident in what their future holds," says Lisa Stockfish, Branch Manager TD Bank. "Partnering with organizations like Dress for Success is one of the ways we work toward this goal, right here in Barrie and Orillia."

Individuals can donate to the fundraiser by “sponsoring a woman” working in the three industries. Donation options include:

Sponsor a woman working in trades/construction for $500:
Includes CSA boots, work socks, work pants, t-shirt, hat, safety jacket and work gloves

Sponsor a woman working as a PSW/in healthcare for $150:
Includes one set of scrubs, non-slip shoes and socks

Sponsor a woman working in the service industry for $100:
Includes non-slip shoes, socks, black pants, and t-shirt

The theme for International Women's Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie spoke with local women who work in male-dominated industries about their thoughts on gender bias in their field and how it can be changed. Q&A’s with the women can be found here, where you can also donate to the fundraiser: www.trellis.org/iwd2022

Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie states, “This an opportunity for you to make a tangible difference in the lives of women on International Women's Day.”
