Whether your tastes run to science and spaceships or swords and sorcery, authors (and car guys) David M. Kelly and Richard H. Stephens will be at Orillia’s Cottage CountryCon on May 19 to provide your reading fix.
This year’s event has an impressive line-up of famous vehicles including KITT from the Knight Rider TV show and the Delorean from the classic Back to the Futuremovies.
So it’s the perfect event for two authors who, when they’re not writing, can often be found cruising in their own cool cars.
Stephens and Kelly share a passion for Corvettes. They first met via a Facebook writing group when they discovered they were both in Ontario and both Corvette owners.
Stephens owns a yellow 2012 C6 and David a black 1991 C4 ZR-1 that he calls his own personal starfighter. “Over the years, I’ve had a few comments from people that my car reminds them of KITT,” he says. “Although it hasn’t started talking to me… yet!”
Sadly, “The Minion” and “The Dragon” (yes, they have names) won’t be in attendance at the comicon.
“Corvettes just aren’t built for transporting luggage, display stands, and all those boxes of books,” says Stephens.
Although both authors agree it does feel a bit like being a superhero when you’re driving one!
Stephens will have on hand his newly released, epic fantasy novels Reecah’s Flight and Into the Madness, complimenting his current list that includes Soul Forge, Wizard of The North, and two standalone novellas.
For fans of fast-paced sci-fi thrillers, Kelly will have books one and two in his Joe Ballen series available: Mathematics of Eternity and Perimeter.
