ORO-MEDONTE – The Empower Simcoe Foundation is pleased to kick off the public phase of its capital campaign to support the construction of Lakeshore Ridge, Empower Simcoe’s newest supported living home.

Located in picturesque Oro-Medonte, this 6,000 square-foot state-of-the-art home will provide support and services for up to six individuals who have complex needs.

“Individuals with developmental disabilities deserve the right to fully participate in their communities and live fulfilling lives. Your support will help them on their journey to belonging and living inclusive lives. Your donation will help Empower Simcoe purchase much needed furniture and equipment to help make Lakeshore Ridge a place the people we support can call home,” says Empower Simcoe Foundation President Victoria Ptasiuk.

Empower Simcoe is a charitable, non-profit organization that was established in 1953 by parents wishing to offer their children with intellectual disabilities an alternative to institutional placement.

The agency provides services for children, teens, and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, programs that promote the healthy development of children of all abilities, and services that respond to community needs including a housing registry co-sponsored by the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Empower Simcoe is building Lakeshore Ridge with support from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and other community partners. In partnership with several private foundations, service clubs and the general public, the Empower Simcoe Foundation’s capital campaign has a goal of raising $250,000, by the end of June 2022.
