In partnership with the County of Simcoe, Empower Simcoe is pleased to unveil its new Landlord Partnership Program, called The Journey Home. Its goal is to support the recovery of the Motel Shelter Model used throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, so that people don’t return to the streets.
This incentive-laden program aims to assist low income and vulnerable individuals with housing throughout the 2021/22 winter season.
“Empower Simcoe’s Regional Housing Support Services Program is committed in its efforts to end homelessness in Simcoe County. The Journey Home is an essential step toward ending the housing crisis in our community,” says Claudine Cousins, Empower Simcoe CEO. “Because everyone in our community deserves a place to live.”
Empower Simcoe is a charitable, non-profit organization established in 1953 and has been providing housing services in the community for over 30 years. Empower Simcoe’s Regional Housing Support Services Program offers a range of housing related services to members of the community of Simcoe County.
Support is provided to community members at risk of homelessness, experiencing homelessness, or experiencing rental and/or utilities arrears through the Simcoe County Regional Housing First Program or Housing Resource Centres in Barrie, Orillia, Midland, and Collingwood.
Empower Simcoe’s Landlord Partnership Program is a push to educate and raise awareness in our community about the effects of homelessness, and a call to all private market landlords, property managers, and those who operate in the housing market to help those most vulnerable and at-risk, take #TheJourneyHome.
