Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

A messy mix of wintry precipitation as well as strong winds expected Monday into Monday night.

A messy mix of wintry precipitation is forecast to develop Monday. Precipitation will likely begin as snow with significant accumulations possible. The snow will be followed by a transition to ice pellets or possibly freezing rain which will likely last for several hours before easing or transitioning to showers or flurries.

In addition to the wintry precipitation, strong winds gusting up to 70 or 80 km/h are also expected Monday into Monday night. Given these strong winds, local power outages may occur.

It is likely that the Monday evening commute will be significantly impacted by the wintry precipitation.

There remains uncertainty as to the exact timing and location of the snow and wintry mix of precipitation. Winter weather travel advisories may be required as the event draws nearer.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
