This morning was the first morning for a new program being offered at Zehrs stores across the country.
And in Orillia, it was embraced.
Many seniors took advantage of the opportunity to shop between 7-8 a.m. this morning. Zehrs is offering the one hour of exclusive shopping to help vulnerable seniors avoid the large crowds that have become the norm at grocery stores since the global pandemic was declared.
"We want to allow our seniors, who are the most vulnerable, to shop in smaller crowds while we deal with COVID-19," said Orillia Zehrs store manager Randy Rutledge in a Facebook post
"Thank you so much for the support during this difficult time."
From this day forward, until further notice, Zehrs Orillia will be using the hour between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. (Sundays excluded) for local seniors to shop.
The store's hours for everyone else will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Orillia's Zehrs is located at 289 Coldwater Rd. in the County Fair Plaza.
