NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
Members of the public are invited to learn more about the Foundry Park design plan project at a community workshop taking place on March 22 at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at the Orillia Recreation Centre (255 West St. S.).

“The city is exploring the design of a potential skateboard park and playground at Foundry Park. The feedback we receive through the upcoming workshop on March 22 will help to finalize the preferred design option. I encourage residents and other stakeholders to have their say by attending in person or taking the online survey,” said Mayor Don McIsaac.

The March 22 community workshop is the final of three workshops the city is hosting for this design and consultation project and will provide the opportunity for attendees to review the preferred design, which is based on multiple options informed through the two previous workshops and associated online surveys.

The public is encouraged to attend the March 22 community workshop for a 6 p.m. start; however, participants can also drop in any time between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. For those who cannot attend, an online survey will be available from March 22 to April 5, 2023 at orillia.ca/foundrypark.

Through the 2022 budget process, Orillia council approved funding to complete the community consultation and design work required to explore design options for the construction of a new skateboard park and playground at Foundry Park, located at 255 West St. S. The City of Orillia has retained New Line Skateparks for the purposes of completing community consultation, design, and construction documentation for the potential skatepark and playground.

While funding has not yet been allocated for the construction phase of the Foundry Park design plan, the feedback received from the community consultation will inform design plans, which will help position the city to be ready to move the project forward and explore future funding opportunities that may be available.
