First SheCANPlay event on tap this week

Pair of Twin Lakes students are behind event that encourages young women to be active

Are you passionate about being active? Would you like to meet more females that share the same interests as you? Well you're in luck.

A pair of Grade 12 students from Twin Lakes Secondary School – Dana Long and Alise Artichuk – are spearheading the first-ever SheCANPlay event at The Heights Ski and Country Club on Thursday, May 24 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

This night will include: yoga, an energizer activity, guest speakers, food and the screening of an award-winning movie, Pretty Faces.

Pretty Faces is an inspiring all-female ski film featuring the best athletes from around the world in celebration of playing outside, pushing the sport of skiing and living up to our fullest potential as a supportive community.

Here’s the agenda for the inaugural event:

Registration: 5 p.m. (Swag bags, Meet and Greet)

Welcome/Introduction: 5:20 p.m.

Energizer: 5:30 p.m. (Melissa White)

Laughter Yoga: 5:45 p.m. (Sue Sinclair - Kind Living Yoga)

Guest Speakers: 6:15 p.m.

  • Camille Vibert (ski racer)
  • Soren Meeuwisse (mountain biker)
  • Thyme Thompson (Paraplegic multi-sport athlete)

Dinner/Movie Snack: 7:50 p.m. (The Heights, Holly’s Sweets and Eats)

Pretty Faces: 7 p.m. (movie)

Thank-yous: 8 p.m.

Social: 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 per person, which will be collected at registration on May 24. The FIRST 50 people to register will get an exclusive grab bag!
