Flood warning continues in Haliburton amid rainfall warning

Public asked to exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams

HALIBURTON - The Municipality has advised that further to their Declaration of Emergency Status on April 24, 2019, the Gull River Watershed continues to be under a flood warning and remains very vulnerable to the inflow of water.

Environment Canada has advised of a rainfall warning for Haliburton County beginning overnight April 25, 2019 and is expected to continue into Friday evening.

The Haliburton Highlands OPP is advising the public to exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams. Conditions can change rapidly. Please be sure to keep children and pets away from fast-moving water and flooded areas.

The Haliburton Highlands OPP would also like to remind the public to avoid driving on any roadways that are closed or underwater. Road conditions may be unstable and dangerous.

Residents are advised that sand and sandbags are available for use.
