A free income-tax session for seniors has been rescheduled for next month.

Information Orillia had planned to host the session Monday. However, on Wednesday, it noted the event had been rescheduled.

It will now take place March 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Mississaga Street East.

The session is for seniors 65 and older.

“We just felt that, with Orillia having such a large senior population, we wanted to provide resources to financially empower seniors in the community,” Karissa Barker, client resource specialist with Information Orillia, previously told OrilliaMatters.

Participants are asked to bring their social insurance number cards and income slips. Complimentary soup and sandwiches will be provided. Information Orillia can arrange transportation for those who need it.

Registration is required and can be done by calling 705-326-7743.

Information Orillia processes simple tax returns only. It cannot file returns for those who have filed for bankruptcy within the past year, business income, rental income, employment expenses and capital gains or losses.

Last year, Information Orillia filed returns for 28 seniors from May to October.
