A passerby saw smoke pouring out of a Coldwater home Wednesday morning and called 911.
Severn Township firefighters responded to the Leisure Court home Wednesday morning and found the attached garage engulfed in flames
“Upon arrival, crews found flames showing from the garage area,” said Tim Cranney, the director of fire and emergency services for the Township of Severn.
He said firefighters were called in from Oro-Medonte and Tay Township to help assist Severn firefighters; at the height of the blaze, there were close to 20 firefighters on the scene.
The homeowner was not at home when the fire erupted. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, Cranney told OrilliaMatters.
Cranny says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He estimated the blaze caused about $350,000 in damages.
“The homeowners did indicate that they have a place to go," said Cranney, who noted the home is not livable. He said it would have to be "totally rebuilt" to be habitable in the future.
