According to survey results released today by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Georgian’s ranking in three of five key performance indicators are higher than the provincial average.

Georgian has the third highest graduate employment rate of all 24 Ontario colleges. This measure indicates the number of graduates surveyed who found work within six months of graduation. At 89.7 per cent, Georgian’s graduate employment rate is 3.5 per cent above the provincial average.

For the past 10 years, Georgian has also consistently outperformed the provincial average for student satisfaction and this year continues the trend with 75.8 per cent of the college’s current students indicating they were satisfied or very satisfied.

Georgian’s graduate satisfaction also tracks above the provincial average at 80.9 per cent.

“I’m especially pleased to see that we have maintained our standing as a leading Ontario college for graduate employment,” said Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes.

“Our faculty, staff and employer partners work together with a singular goal to connect students to the skills and work experience they need to succeed – both in the job after they graduate and as they progress in their careers, whether they choose to work for an employer or for themselves.”

West-Moynes said Georgian offers more than 130 industry-relevant and innovative programs with faculty members who maintain close connections with business owners and hiring managers.

This ensures that program content is always relevant to the changing needs of employers.

A pioneer in co-op programs in the province, Georgian continues to be a leader in the field. Georgian has the highest percentage of students enrolled in paid co-op work terms in the Ontario college system.

In total, 6,200 employers partner with Georgian to offer student work experiences, including co-op, internship, placement and field experience.

All of Georgian’s full-time programs include hands-on experiences in workplaces, on campus, or in the community.

Most offer a formal work-integrated learning opportunity, ranging from paid co-op terms to internships and field placements. The co-op research findings were gathered by the Institutional Research department of Georgian College.
