Georgian College is pleased to announce David Coward as its new Vice President of Human Resources.

The appointment follows a national search for an experienced and passionate human resources leader for this new position on Georgian’s senior leadership team.

Coward brings more than 15 years of experience in the broader public sector and more than 20 years of extensive professional experience in human resource management and labour relations.

Coward joins Georgian College from York University where he is currently the Assistant Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to York University, Coward spent 16 years as the senior human resources officer at both the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Coward is returning to Georgian College, where he has taught Human Resources Management courses and has served on the Human Resources Management Program Advisory Committee and the Barrie Campus Committee.

Coward holds several degrees, including a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University, a Master of Laws in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University. Coward obtained his Master of Arts degree through the University Partnership Centre at Georgian.

In addition to his multiple degrees, Coward is a proud graduate of the community college system, with a diploma in Electronics from Humber College.

“The combination of David’s diverse experiences in human resources management and passion for life long learning is exactly the kind of leadership we were seeking for this position,” said Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes. “David’s knowledge of the college and region will be an excellent asset to Georgian and will reinforce our position as an employer of choice.”

Coward will become a key member of the senior leadership team at Georgian College on May 1 when he begins his new role.

“I have been honoured to teach at Georgian and serve on several advisory committees,” said Coward.  “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Georgian as the Vice President of Human Resources.”
