Shoppers will receive a tote bag sewn by our volunteers which can be filled with quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and rug hooking supplies – all for just a $15 donation to a great cause!

If you have sewing, knitting, or craft supplies of any sort you’d like to donate, please call Heather at 705-325-8594 or Jude at 705-259-2725 to arrange for pick up or delivery.

The Mariposa Grandmothers Group is part of the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. This campaign was formed in 2006 as a Canadian grassroots response to the emerging crisis faced by African grandmothers as they struggled to care for millions of children orphaned by AIDS.

African grandmothers became parents anew amid the HIV and AIDS epidemic. There are currently over 240 Grandmothers groups across Canada.

Orillia’s Mariposa Grandmothers to Grandmothers Group has been in existence for 12 years and continues to fundraise to meet the needs of African grandmothers and the children in their care.

We meet at 9:30 on the third Friday of each month at St. Paul’s Church, Corner of Coldwater and Peter Streets. New members are always welcome – and most certainly do not have to be grandmothers!
