NEWS RELEASE
KIWANIS CLUB OF ORILLIA
************************
Get ready, Orillia! The Orillia Kiwanis Club’s 44th annual “mammoth auction” is back! We are excited to host the redesigned hybrid model — online and a live in-person event.

The online auction will begin on Saturday, Oct. 28 at noon and run until Wednesday Nov. 1 with a soft closing beginning at 7 p.m. The main event will take place at ODAS Park, The Roller-Skating Place, Saturday, Nov. 4.

Silent auction bids start at 8 a.m. and the exciting live auction will begin at 10 a.m.

Online auction items can be picked up Saturday, Nov. 4 beginning at 9 a.m.

The auction is a terrific place to do some tax-free, pre-Christmas shopping for those on your Christmas gift list. The auction features a wide assortment of goods, everything from big-ticket items like a snowmobile and ATV’s to smaller items like gift certificates, spa dates, tools, event tickets to the proverbial kitchen sink.

We are proud to be able to offer a highly sought after guitar signed by Gordon Lightfoot as he continues to give to the community he called home. We expect some exciting bids on this item!!

Plan to come out for the morning’s activities. There will be face-painting for the kids and the All Fired Up food truck will be onsite for those who skipped breakfast! NO experience is necessary, this is a fun day to bring the family out and help the community while doing so.

The annual Kiwanis “Mammoth Auction” is the local club’s only fundraising event, and all monies raised stay in Orillia and area.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of a wide variety of local businesses, the event funds activities such as the Orillia Kiwanis Music Festival, T-Ball program, 4H Club sponsorship, scholarships for graduating high school students, the Terrific Kids program, OSMH Born to Read program and the Kiwanis Children’s Safety Village.

The money raised during the auction is also used to support a variety of local organizations that provide for our community’s children and youth — Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The Child Advocacy Centre of Simcoe-Muskoka, and so much more.

We are also excited to announce that The Kiwanis Club of Orillia is getting ready to celebrate a significant milestone in 2024 — the 100th Anniversary of the club’s founding — just eight years after the initial “Kiwanis Club” was founded in Chicago in 1916.

The Club is currently planning its “100th Gala Celebration” to be held June 1, 2024, at the Casino Rama Resort. Other special projects are in the works for 2024 as club members commemorate 100 years of service to the children and youth of Orillia and area. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements to come around our 100th anniversary in Orillia.

Current and 100th President Paul Ross wants everyone to come out this year.

“Auction item donors have shown amazing support this year to help the club celebrate 100 years," said Ross. "We are positive the community will so the same and participate enthusiastically in the live and silent auction events. Come on out to ODAS park on Nov. 4 — it’s a ton of fun as well as a great cause.”

Follow us on social media: Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) for auction updates and to see some of the items we will have available at the auction. Information can also be found on our website at  www.kiwanisorillia.ca or at [email protected].

Nov. 4. Mark it on your calendar. Then come out to ODAS Park, the Roller-Skating Place to participate in the 2023 Kiwanis Auction. Help us, help the children and youth in our community.
