Half-price haircuts for local veterans offered until Saturday

CJ's Hair Care in Orillia offering discount, collecting donations for legion

A local business is showing its appreciation for veterans by offering discounted haircuts.

CJ’s Hair Care, at 438 West St. N., Unit 6, is knocking 50 per cent off the cost of a haircut for veterans, with Saturday being the last day to take advantage of the offer.

“I feel like they don’t get as much as they deserve, so we wanted to do something to give back,” said owner Janine Ariganello.

“This is our skill and we want to use it to help them,” added manager Samantha Charman. “We’re not just talking about the older veterans. Any veteran is welcome to take advantage of this.”

Those who are not veterans can still help out. CJ’s is collecting donations for the Orillia legion. Clients who make a donation will receive a slip of paper with the image of a poppy on it and can write a message to local veterans. Those poppies are on display in the front window and will later be sent to the legion.

“It’s more personal. I get chills reading them,” said Ariganello. “It warms my heart.”

It’s another way to remind veterans of the appreciation Canadians have for their service, Charman said.

“They sacrificed a lot. They sacrificed time with their families — time they’ll never get back,” she said.
