NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
The City of Orillia and its Governance Working Group invite Orillia residents to provide their input regarding Orillia Council’s Procedure Bylaw and governance through an online survey.

“The Council Procedure Bylaw guides processes for City Council and Committee meetings to carry out the business of the City,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “As we continue to review ways to modernize our governance practices, we want to hear from Orillia residents and receive their input on how we can best serve them through the updating of this procedure bylaw.”

The online survey is available here until July 24, 2021, at midnight and provides residents the opportunity to comment on processes such as how late council meetings can run, conduct for council, how residents delegate and interact with council and how public meetings are communicated to residents.

Written comments can also be submitted via email to [email protected]. For those who do not have access to the internet, hard copies of the survey are available by request by calling Megan Williams, Deputy Clerk, at 705-325-5408.

In April 2021, Orillia Council established a working group for the purpose of conducting a Governance Review, including a review of Council’s Procedure By-laws and the mandates of committees of council. All written comments, survey responses and feedback received by July 24, 2021, will be considered in developing recommendations for council’s consideration in the fall/winter.
