NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE MUSKOKA DISTRICT HEALTH UNIT
******************************
Effective Saturday, March 19, 2022, all public health COVID-19 vaccination community clinics will offer appointments by walk-in only and will operate from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. throughout the week and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends as scheduled.

Clinic walk-in schedules, including pop-ups and the GO-VAXX bus, are available on the health unit’s website and social media accounts and include up-to-date information.

Please be advised that the COVID-19 Immunization Clinic at 29 Sperling Dr. in Barrie will continue to take both appointments and walk-ins.

The health unit strongly encourages those who are eligible to get their vaccine, particularly a booster dose as soon as they can as a booster dose helps to reduces one’s risk for severe illness and chance of requiring hospitalization if infected with COVID-19. Youth aged 12 to 17 are eligible for a booster shot at least six months (or 168 days) after they received their second dose, while adults 18 years and older can receive a booster three months (84 days) after their second dose.

Individuals attending clinics are reminded to bring a health card, a list of any medications they are taking, wear a loose-fitting shirt that allows easy access to the upper arm and bring any assistive devices as needed (e.g., scooter, wheelchair, cane). As of March 21, when provincial masking requirements are lifted, SMDHU continues to recommend masks and physical distancing as important prevention strategies at community vaccination clinics.

For more information about COVID-19 and details about where and how to get your vaccination, please visit our website at www.smdhu.org/COVID19.
