SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Voting has now closed for the first ever SCDSB Idol competition! Beginning May 16, members of the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) community were invited to view and vote for their favourite musical acts in the following categories: student solo, student group, staff solo or staff group.
After receiving more than 11,200 combined Facebook reactions and votes on the Google form, the top two acts from each category have been identified and invited to perform live at the SCDSB Idol Finale on June 5 at 4 p.m. at the Education Centre in Midhurst.
The top acts, in alphabetical order, are:
- Andrew Walker (Georgian Bay District SS), staff solo
- Aslan Wardell, Ellie Atton, Jackson Wardell, Tomos Salathiel, and Mackenzie Susil (Barrie North CI, Eastview SS and Terry Fox ES), student group
- Emma and Leah Walker (W.C. Little ES), student group
- Joe Crone (Fieldcrest ES), staff solo
- PJammin Pants – Heidi Cameron Armstrong (Oakley Park PS), Brent Armstrong (Elementary Student Success), Rhys Armstrong and Autumn Armstrong, staff group
- Riley Camryn, Warnica Public School, student solo
- The Tritone Tritons – Frank Krascek, Grant Jennings and Jane Boake (Nantyr Shores SS), staff group
- Turner Smyth (Innisdale Secondary School), student solo
Members of the public are invited to attend the finale event, where each act will perform and a panel of judges will select the first SCDSB Idol. The event will also be live streamed on the SCDSB Facebook page.
