There is a new 18-hole mini-golf course at Hewitts Fun Farm this summer.

Hewitts Fun Farm has added a new family attraction to its popular Severn Township facility.

Owner Trevor Hewitt says the recently unveiled mini-golf course is agricultural-themed and includes some fun decor.

“We like to add one or two new attractions every year,” he said. “We like to keep things new and exciting.”

When Red Caboose Mini Golf closed during the pandemic, Hewitt got in touch with the owners and purchased some of the equipment that had been in use at the popular Laclie Street facility.

“We kind of adjusted it to our needs,” he said. “We’ve redesigned it.”

The former course's railroad car is currently on the farm for those looking for nostalgia. However, eventually, it will be redesigned to fit the farm theme.

“We have four or five holes that we built brand new,” he said. “Some of the other holes we took pieces of what we have from Red Caboose and redesigned them.”

The new mini golf course officially opened on July 2.

“We’ve gotten a lot of good, positive feedback,” Hewitt said. “We’ve had some good crowds and the word is obviously getting out there.”

Customers have been telling Hewitt that there is a good mix of easy and challenging holes for all skill levels and ages.

“People don’t expect it to be what it is,” he said. “They expect it to be a super basic course, but this is actual mini-golf.”

Hewitt says his farm seems to be one of the only mini-golf courses in the Orillia area now.

“Even the glow-in-the-dark one in Barrie just closed,” he said. “It’s something else for the local population to do.”

Hewitts Fun Farm is open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.
