Hewitts turning switch on bigger, better Festival of Lights

'We’ve doubled our route this year. It's now half a kilometre long, and we are excited to have people back during this magical time of the year,' says local business owner

Hewitts Farm Market is bringing back its popular Festival of Lights drive-through event this year after a successful 2020 campaign.

“We had a lot of fun last year despite all the hiccups we went through, and this year we got started really early. Construction began in January and finished up in April,” explained the local enterprise's co-owner, Margie Hewitt.

“We’ve doubled our route this year. It’s now half a kilometre long, and we are excited to have people back during this magical time of the year.”

New holiday displays have been added this year that include characters from popular Christmas movies and cartoons.

“This year we have a storybook theme and everything inside is new. This year we have Elf, we have a princess-themed display, Toy Story, Frosty, Misfit Island from Rudolph, and Alvin and the Chipmunks will make an appearance,” Hewitt said.

“We also have a 1949 Ford truck, because what farm doesn’t have an old truck? We really do have something for everyone to enjoy all while staying warm in the comfort of your own car.”

Last year, the Town Line business received mostly positive feedback from community members who said the event gave them an opportunity to take part in a magical Christmas event without worrying about their safety amid the ongoing pandemic.

“Family, friends and the community really supported us with this last year. They’ve told us that they love it, they appreciate it, and it’s made us feel like our work is acknowledged and important,” she said.

The Festival of Lights will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting on Dec. 3. The event runs from 5:45 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.

Tickets are already almost 40 percent sold. Admission fee is $15 per vehicle and it includes two free cookie coupons which are redeemable at the on-site store. You can purchase your tickets here.

“Fill the car, come on out, and have a fun night out with the family,” Hewitt said.
