NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
The City of Orillia is changing its Waste Diversion Site winter hours.

Effective Nov. 1 to March 31 of each year, the Waste Diversion Site, located at 100 Kitchener St., will have the following winter hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The Waste Diversion Site is closing at 4:30 p.m., as opposed to the previous closing hour of 5 p.m., to ensure customers are not on site when it is dark outside. Also, it provides staff more time to clear snow before the site opens when there is an early onset of winter.

“There is a significant health and safety concern with having customers on site when it is dark outside because they may have limited visibility and are in close proximity to heavy machinery being used. Closing a half-an-hour earlier will alleviate this concern,” said Greg Preston, Manager of Water and Waste Management.

The Waste Diversion Site summer hours remain the same. From April 1 to Oct. 31 of each year the Waste Diversion Site has the following summer hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Waste Diversion Site at 705-325-3522.
