CITY OF ORILLIA

With warmer weather near, registration for spring recreation programs as well as summer camps and swimming lessons is now open.

For the first time since 2019, recreation and camp programs will be operating at full capacity with a variety of offerings, including art, fitness and wellness, general interest, sports, and swimming. Some new programs include volleyball for youth, low-sensory gym time, join the art movement, and pickleball: skills and drills.

“It has been a long two years of programming changes and we are thrilled to be offering a wide variety of recreation and camp opportunities to the community again. There are options for all levels, abilities and interests,” said Mayor Steve Clarke.

“Recreation and leisure activities are beneficial to our mental and physical health. I encourage community members to take advantage of the great selection of programming we have to offer and start a new activity this spring.”

Spring aquatic programs for all ages and abilities start at the beginning of April. Advanced courses will be offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year; watch online for more dates at orillia.ca/SUN. Swimming lessons fill up quickly, so sign up early to avoid disappointment. View a listing of upcoming programs in the Spring Made Fun guide, available at orillia.ca/programs.

Summer programming is also available in the Summer Splash guide, which includes camps and beach swimming lessons. Check it out at orillia.ca/programs to get your summer organized.

“Whether your child is interested in adventure, performing arts, sports, leadership, visual arts, swimming, or beyond, there is truly something for everyone available in our recreation programs and camps,” said Megan Visser, Recreation Program Supervisor. “We can’t wait to be back together again, creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

Public health measures for all recreation programs and day camps will align with provincial regulations and guidance from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

The quickest and easiest way to register for recreation programs is online at orillia.ca/sun. For in-person registration support, including viewing the latest recreation guides, visit the Orillia Recreation Centre at 255 West St. S.
