The city’s iconic Champlain Monument will be the focus of the next Lakehead University In Conversation talk at the Orillia Public Library.

Dr. Kim Fedderson, Professor Emeritus, Lakehead University Department of English, and Past Principal, Lakehead Orillia, will kick off the new year with “The Champlain Monument: Memorializing Orillia’s Past, Rewriting Orillia’s History”.

Fedderson will unpack the Champlain monument’s place in the unfolding culture of the city; the stories it told about the community Orillia was; and, once restored, the stories it could tell about the community Orillia might become.

“The Champlain Monument: Memorializing Orillia’s Past, Rewriting Orillia’s History” will be presented at the Orillia Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at 2 p.m.

This session is free and open to the public. Register by email to [email protected] or by phone at 705-325-2338.
