The Orillia Public Library is pleased to announce they have received $46,600 through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund to support Makerspace service improvements.

The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time, $400-million investment from the Government of Canada to support community service organizations, including charities, non-profits, and Indigenous governing bodies, as they adapt and modernize their organizations.

Funding received will improve the library Makerspace ventilation system as well as improving its functionality and accessibility. The Makerspace has been widely used since it opened in November 2022, with over 5,000 visitors to date. This modern library service provides valuable opportunities for makers, entrepreneurs, and learners of all ages to use technology for prototyping, marketing, creative design, networking, and social engagement. Makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, a laser cutter, large-scale printer, vinyl cutters, and button makers, are all available for public use.

During the construction process, the library will be closed on Monday, April 22. Additionally, the Makerspace will be closed from Tuesday, April 23 to Saturday, April 27.

Please call the library at 705-325-2338 for more information.
