An Orillia couple is making sure their local hospital can continue delivering excellent patient care. Bill and Donna Shaw have made a $25,000 gift towards equipment and technology at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).

“What better way to give back to our community than investing in better equipment for our hospital,” said Bill Shaw. “We’re very lucky to have this level of care close to home, and we’d like to keep it that way.”

A portion of the donation will go towards the purchase of an Opti-Flow device for the hospital’s Integrated Medical and Rehab Services Unit. Optiflow devices help deliver high flow oxygen and medical gas directly into a patient’s nostrils to ease pain and increase comfort.

“We can’t thank Bill and Donna enough for their generous donation to OSMH,” said Mark Riczu, executive director, OSMH Foundation. “Community members like them truly make the difference between a good hospital and a great hospital.”

To recognize the Shaw’s significant contribution to patient care, a recognition plaque was placed in the hospital’s surgical services department. If you would like to follow Bill and Donna’s lead and help support the Foundation in securing vital equipment and technology, please contact the office today at 705-325-6464 or [email protected].
