Local hikers enjoy 'spectacular' journey in Cooper's Falls (4 photos)

Orillia chapter of Ganaraska Hiking Club has kicked off its spring season this week and will be hosting a series of four evening hikes beginning May 11

'Tis the season for hiking.

About 15 members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club went to Muskoka to enjoy the Cooper’s Falls Trail earlier this week.

Weather was spectacular as was the scenery. And the hikers had a special treat as turtles were seen basking in the sun a little distance from their lunch stop.

The club opened the spring season on Wednesday evening with a walk along the Lightfoot Trail in Orillia, followed by a “campfire style” gathering in Couchiching Beach Park.

Carrying on in the theme of easing into hiking, starting on May 11 there will be a series of four Wednesday evening two-hour hikes of various nearby trails.

Non-members are welcome to join in the hikes and returning members are also welcome.
