Saturday evening sees an exclusive ‘invitation-only’ event being hosted at the Five Points Theatre in downtown Barrie where a staff celebration and recognition event will take place for Oro-Medonte-based plastics specialists Molded Precision Components, who are also unveiling their newly developed corporate identity.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Molded Precision Components (MPC) boxes above their weight and if you have been to the drive-in movies on Oro Line 4 South recently, you probably didn’t even notice them quietly going about their business of innovating the fiercely contested sector of precision plastics molding.

MPC specializes in the engineering development, tooling and precision manufacture of injection molded components for some of the most demanding customers in the World. In fact, if you own an F150 truck you are not more than a few inches from an MPC component while going about your day to day.

“Our quality and reliability is second to none,” said David Yeaman, co-owner and president, “but we couldn’t do any of this without our people. We operate as a family and our people are simply the best!”

MPC boasts beyond world-class quality stats with a defective parts rating of less than one part per million delivered; all the more impressive when you produce over 70 million parts annually.

Yeaman explained this cannot be achieved solely by adding people, no matter how good they are.

The sector-leading implementation of technologies at their facilities and on their equipment not only set them apart, but positions them as trailblazers of Industry 4.0.

This global mega-trend will see integration of technologies, sensors and artificial intelligence set to revolutionize the way everything is manufactured.

Always with a keen eye on the future, the team knows that it is increasingly important for the business to have a clear direction and to communicate that effectively to their team members, suppliers and customers. Also important is the need to draw breath and celebrate what has been achieved.

Molded Precision Components is one of just a handful of IATF 16949 (ISO) certified suppliers in Canada, putting them at the head of the list for automotive clients who increasingly require this qualification.

They are active participants of the Barrie Innovators Alliance; a sponsor of The Sandbox, Barrie and a lead sponsor of the CyberGnomes; a team of Stayner high school students who complete in the annual ‘First Robotics League’ competition.

MPC is also closely connected with the ongoing implementation of the Peter B. Moore Advanced Manufacturing Centre at Georgian College and will soon be launching a new venture that supports an above average perspective of social purpose; Tabacon is a not-for-profit entity offering youth outdoor adventures and mentorship experiences designed to strengthen resilience and realize their full potential.

Further information about Molded Precision Components and Tabacon can be found at the company’s website www.MPCcomponents.com.
