Arts Orillia presents the 2024 edition of Theatre & Cross Creativity at the Orillia Opera House, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. with forum theatre expert Simon Malbogat of Mixed Company Theatre and Orillia’s extraordinary youth.

Malbogat is leading a cast of our local youth in a production. Come out and see your community’s up-and-coming creative thinkers on the studio theatre stage as they perform their stories from their perspectives, in this theatrical performance collaboratively created with one of Canada’s most innovative directors.

Are you a person under the age of 25 who is excited to see your generation’s ideas on the stage? Yes? This play is for you. Are you over 25 and curious about what inspires young people today? Yes? This play is also for you.

Mixed Company Theatre uses forum theatre and interactive arts to educate, engage, and empower audiences in schools, communities, and workplaces. Forum theatre is a performance approach that involves the audience in developing real-time strategies for dealing with social issues. It’s a powerful tool recognized by UNESCO for its impact in community dialogue and social change. Mixed Company Theatre developed Canada’s first forum theatre works in collaboration with Toronto’s communities. Today, Mixed Company Theatre has created over 160 forum theatre and community arts productions with people of all ages and backgrounds.
