Man drowns in Minden Hills kayak incident; girl, 8, makes it to shore

Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Haliburton County Paramedic Services (HCPS) and Minden Hills Fire Department, responded to reports of a drowning at Three Brothers Falls in the Township of Minden Hills, on Friday, July 26, 2019, at approximately 1:50 p.m.

An 8-year-old female and a 40-year-old male were kayaking when they capsized. The female made it safely to shore and the male failed to resurface. The 40 year old male from Waterford, Ontario was pulled from the water by Emergency Personnel and pronounced deceased. 

The female and the male were not wearing life-jackets.
