The human voice is very powerful. However, many will say they have not been heard. Why is that? I believe that for some time, certain community groups have been very loud; not giving the rest of us an opportunity to be heard. For those of you in agreement, I want you to know, I’m hearing your voices loud and clear.

My name is Zoe Rowe-Watson, and I am a candidate for councillor in Ward 1, Oro-Medonte — the place my family and I have called home for over 15 years. I am passionate about the area, community and the diversity of people who live here with me! I need you to know that you are an integral part of Ward 1, and you matter. Our ward needs your voice, your ideas and your vote.

As a natural born leader, I have been fortunate throughout my business career to use my deeply rooted moral compass to serve others. My career highlights include, Flight Attendant and Health & Safety Officer with Canadian/Air Canada, owner and operator of a Northern Ontario fly-in fishing lodge, and a trusted Financial Advisor for Sun Life Financial.

My passion for this community is reflected through my volunteering work with Ukrainian refugees, co-administering a Facebook positivity page, WE Unite Christmas lantern delivery, setting up meal trains, making meals and providing for struggling families, and more.

What is my platform? As your councillor, I will make unbiased decisions. I will listen to and consider all residents. I will respect and enhance the nature of Oro-Medonte.

My toolbox is packed with confidence, negotiation skills, and problem-solving strategies. According to my fiduciary duty, I will strive to work collaboratively with all councillors, township staff and residents.

As I continue to knock on doors, I am reminded of the need for ongoing communication. Considering this, I have explored with the township, the use of customer secure forms and analytics to receive feedback from residents. I believe my role as a good councillor is to serve and represent you with transparency and integrity, in every interaction.

My commitment to you is simple: I will always listen, I will always be inclusive, and I will always do what is best for our community.

Collectively, our voices and votes will matter on Oct. 24!
