There is a new business in town that aims to help those who are hoping to overcome fears, stop smoking, or would like to lose weight.

Cyndi Tryon, 59, opened Kahshe Hypnosis at 64 Mississaga St. W. earlier this month and started her career in hypnosis just over a year ago.

“I wanted to help people,” she explained. “Seeing people succeed in areas where there have been struggles to smile or be in a place where they can be in a happy space is what I enjoy.”

Tryon, a native of Kahshe Lake, says being a business owner in Orillia seems like her destiny.

“When I was looking for a space n Gravenhurst, I couldn’t find anything,” she explained. “This place spoke to me, and afterward we realized there is a special significance to the building as well.”

The unit that Kahshe Hypnosis calls home was once Carmine’s Restaurant, which is where Tryon's husband proposed to her 36 years ago.

Already, Tryon says she has built a loyal customer base.

“I’ve had people come to me for their fear of flying, some stress management, and goal setting,” she said. “The main reasons people come are to stop smoking and weight loss.”

Despite only having a year of experience under her belt, Tryon says she has had a great deal of success coaching others.

“I love helping people get to their finish line,” she said. “It’s very rewarding to see somebody succeed.”

Tryon has filled a binder with testimonials from clients over the last year who are happy with her services. While there are other remedies for things like weight loss and smoking, Tryon says there are more people out there that need support than there are supports for people.

“I don’t feel like I’m competing with anybody,” she said. “Those providing similar services are kindred spirits who are helping people in the area.”

Tryon will also be bringing staged hypnosis shows to Orillia where people can volunteer to be hypnotized. For show dates and times, keep posted on the Kahshe Hypnosis Facebook page.
